The New York State Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) provides employers with the information they need to understand their rights as employers of Guard & Reserve members - and to help those Guard & Reserve members understand their rights and obligations when leaving and returning to their jobs.

The members of the Guard & Reserve are our co-workers - company officials, nurses, policemen, pilots, computer specialists, and many other people. And when necessary for our Defense, they are the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guard members. These are our troops about whom we read, and the troops the local ESGR committee supports.

When the Guard & Reserve troops return to civilian life, they have rights as provided to them through the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). And the local committee assists them in matters of job security, tenure and promotions. For assistance, contact your local ESGR Committee.
